About

I’m Jesús Carrascosa Carro, a computer engineer from the University of Seville. Throughout the 2025-2026 academic year I held a research fellowship in the Department of Electronics and Electromagnetism, optimising AI models to run on low-power hardware for biodiversity monitoring. This September I begin the Master’s in Microelectronics run by the University of Seville together with Spain’s National Research Council (CSIC), through the Seville Institute of Microelectronics (IMSE-CNM).

My main interest is applying computing and electronics to the environment and to biodiversity, by way of IoT, embedded systems and artificial intelligence. Next to that, and equally, come microelectronics and semiconductors, and biodiversity as a subject in its own right. I also follow hardware-based accessibility, smart cities, public transport and robotics.

Most of what I’ve learned outside the classroom has come from building things with other people. I chaired the IoTUS student association in 2025-2026, where I obtained the legal status the association had been unable to secure because of administrative deadlock, and I helped run the Hack4Change hackathon at the School of Computer Engineering, judging its 2026 edition. In 2025 I led AccesiBLE, a universal hardware-based accessibility system, and at the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 I was a developer on Constellation Forge, a website that rebuilds the night sky as seen from real exoplanets using data from ESA’s Gaia mission, the NASA Exoplanet Archive and SIMBAD.

Much of my education has taken place abroad: a semester in Taipei and stays in Beijing, Zhuhai and Genoa, the latter three on ten-place scholarships awarded on academic record and English proficiency. Asia is where I’ve learned the most, Taiwan above all. Spanish is my first language, I hold a Cambridge C2 certificate in English, and I’m learning Mandarin Chinese and Esperanto: languages are one of my great pastimes. I also read, play video games and build LEGO, and I’m learning to play Go. I practised parkour from 2014 to 2018, and I’m retired from speedcubing.

    Official 60-ECTS Master’s degree taught in collaboration with the CSIC through the Institute of Microelectronics of Seville (IMSE-CNM). Training in the design and applications of micro and nanometric systems, with tracks in circuits for wireless communications, acquisition and processing of sensory signals, and advanced design and test techniques for nanometric circuits.
